Medieval Subjects

There has been a resurgence of interest in this period with several movies set in medeval times. We have discovered a set of four jousting knights published in Germany in the 15th century. These are complimented by the antique swords, and royal crests of the Duke of York and the Prince of Wales.

Jousting Knights
15th Century Medieval Knights by Kottenkamp. In Germany, the last imperial tournament was held in 1487. In France tournaments continued until 1559. These very rare prints depict German jousters The remaining three images show 15th Century tournaments.

Marriage Procession
These prints show part of the procession to celebrate the marriage of the Dauphin of France to Marie-Josephe de Saxe in 1747. The char de Mars and the Char de Bacchus are extremely rare and beautiful images.
  CHARIOT OF BACCHUS
Eight exquisite white horses draw the chariot of Bacchus, god of wine. The image is 14 1/2" by 24". 
  CHARIOT OF MARS
Eight white horses draw the chariot of Mars, god of war, accompanied by an entourage of soldiers.

Royal Crests
  PRINCE OF WALES
The royal crest of the Prince of Wales by Chesham in 1730. The three feathers in the crown are unique to the Prince. The image is 10" by 15". 
  DUKE OF YORK
The royal crest of the Duke of York by Chesham in 1730. The suit of armour at the base is unique to the Duke.
